GLOSSARY OF TERMS

Borosilicate

This is a glass that belongs to the borosilicate family of glass. The glass has a typical coefficient of expansion of 33 or 51 meaning it is suitable for high temperature working conditions.

Lead

This glass has a lead oxide content and is available in a variety of lead concentrations to suit many applications. The lead content provides good electrical properties.

Soda Lime

This is a glass that has a high soda content and is used in general purpose applications where thermal shock is not a consideration. Typically it has a coefficient of expansion of 95.
